2008 Olympic Mens Diving

2008 Olympic Mens Diving

So dh & I go out for a few drinks last night, planning to meet up with a coworker of mine.  We sit at the bar and watch the Olympic Men diving competition.  And wait, and drink, and wait.  Our company arrives just as we were getting ready to leave.  Which was disappointing, but at least we got out of the house for a few hours.  We have not had much chance to be alone without the children lately and the two hours was quite refreshing.  Thanks Nana for babysitting.

Ok, can someone explain to me why my 9-year old daughter suddenly can not make it through the night without me?  I wake up during the night and find her asleep on the floor next to my side of the bed.  This was the child who slept through the night by 6 months.  She never slept with the parents (well occasionally i would let her sleep with me between marriages.)  The child who isn’t afraid of anything is suddenly afraid of bumps in the night, house creakings and nightmares.   She had a great room with her own bed, pull out couch, TV, books, Gameboy, toys.   But somehow my hard floor seems more desireable to her.

At first I figured it was a phase and would pass, so I just let it happen.  But now it is happening every night, so privacy is out the window in my marriage.  I have tried punishing her, but she is immune.  Tonight if she shows up in my room again, she plays with NO friends tomorrow and has to write a 500 word essay on why it is wrong to sleep in my room.  (Lets just say she is excited to get started on it.)  I even tried using positive reinforcement (if she stays out, she will get some extra special one on one time with me.)  She chose punishment.

Now 2 days a week, she stays at her father’s house.  There is no problem there.  Anyone have any advice?  I am at my wits end here.

I’m evaluating a course on blogging from the folks at Simpleology.  For a while, they’re letting you (http://www.simpleology.com/training/blogging/index.php”>snag ) snag it for free if you post about it on your blog.   It covers: The best blogging techniques. How to get traffic to your blog. How to turn your blog into money. I’ll let you know what I think once I’ve had a chance to check it out. Meanwhile, go grab yours while it’s still free.

Later added note:  OK checked this out, not worth it.  Course is not about blogging.  Sorry to waste your time.

I want to thank my crew for the great birthday party they threw me.  I celebrated my 40th with relaxation and friends…who could ask for anything more?

Oh and thanks to Britt-ish Designs @ scrapmatters.com for the free quickpage template.

So this band Tantric has this new song out “Down & Out…which I like, alot.  (You can hear a clip of it on iTunes.  I dont just like it because its a great song, it is a great song, but also because the current bassist (Erik Leonhardt) of the band used to be the bassist in one of our local cover bands called Freak.  Freak is a really great cover band, who scares some people with their onstage antics.  But we really enjoy seeing (hearing?) them.  So anyway the bassist, Erik, rocks, so I automatically feel as if I have a moral (?) connection/need to love this band, Tantric.  I know its wierd.  Nobody said I was normal.

Check em out at www.myspace.com/tantric.  They are currently touring the country, and may i say i feel proud of another one of our jersey folk makin it big!  You can also check out the band Freak at www.myspace.com/freakcoverband.  They look freaky but they are really funny and talented.  Always a good time.

Here is a reminder of a love story on a lost island

Sorry for the delay in my latest post.  It is the end of the summer and things are just going crazy.  Thanks for your patience.  Also, thanks for the comments so far!  I appreciate it.   I have been researching this blogging thing and hope to fine tune my blog for more interest!

School opens in just over 2 weeks and I cannot believe the summer is almost over.   We were able to see Ian last weekend, he is 6 already!!  We had a fantastic time playing on the Wii.  Quite a wit, he is!

My mother celebrates her 65th birthday this weekend and we look forward to taking her out to celebrate!  She certainly deserves it!

I hope to log on again soon!

I must say that I am quite addicted to Digital Scrapbooking.  Well, actually to surfing the freebies on the Digital Scrapbooking websites!  I download some for use occasionally (I have curbed my download rate by a great amount in favor of saving memory.)  But it is becoming quite an obsession!  One that I visit the most is Digiscrapdepot.com.  Every day they come up with 60-80 new freebies!

It is quite sad, because I mostly use my paper scrapbooking products for school projects and gifts!  That is because Digi-scrapping is so easy!  Anyone with any suggestions, please comment!
