Last night we attended the MIDNIGHT premiere of the Twilight – New Moon movie.  Yes I know, why the midnight premiere?  Well, my daughter and I LOVE the movies and I read all of the books so we could not wait any longer!!  We arrived an hour and a half early because we expected long lines.  There were no long lines but they were letting people in early because they expected quite a crowd.  I was glad we were early because then we had a choice of seats and did not have to be seperated from our daughter and her two friends.  They ran the movie in five theaters at one time!  The place was packed!  This is in a town that barely ever has a line!  My sweet husband tagged along as it was our fifth wedding anniversary!

The movie was very good for a teenage drama.  It stuck to the book as much as it could and stay within its two hour window.  The acting was good, with Taylor Lautner excelling as Jacob Black.  This was certainly HIS movie.  He will get many movie offers after this film.  I am a Team Edward fan, so of course he was quite dreamy!  I did enjoy Kristen Stewart’s performance more in this movie than in Twilight.  She seemed much more comfortable in the part with more experience.

The special effects with the werewolves were fantastic and the fight scene among the vampires was breathtaking!  The only fault I saw in the  movie was with the makeup.  It was very obvious in some scenes that the actor was wearing makeup (or a wig.)  The characters head should not be a different color than his body!!!

I do recommend watching the film!  The time flew by and it was a FULL two hours!

sara1I was recently brought to tears when my daughter was given a great complement. My daughter has ADHD and is not one for applying herself fully. She is working on her junior aide badge by helping at a meeting of younger girls. A few of the girls from her troop were also helping, but only my daughter helped the leaders throughout the whole evening. No goofing off or standing around gossiping. So I give kudos to my daughter for showing her maturity and focus, and for making her mom so damn proud!sara2

So I have recently gave in to my curiosity about Twitter. After the drama on the VMA’s with Kanye/Taylor Swift/Beyonce and all if the publicity about the celebrity reactions on Twitter, I could no longer resist! An easy signup later and I was quickly entranced. I started “following” a few celebrities and then you can see who they are following. And so on. You start following people just to see their daily quips and pics and the next thing you know, hours have gone by! Oh, and did I mention that you can comment directly to these celebrities? And sometimes they answer! Who could resist?

sawtelleI just finished reading The Story of Edgar Sawtelle

Yes, it was one of the Oprah books, but that is not why I read it.  Mom said it was good and she usually is a good judge of books so I rented it from the library.  I rent all my books from the library, much more economical in this economy and I am not left wondering what to do with a finished hardcover.

Anyway, the book is based many years ago on a farm in Wisconsin.  The history of the family based in the book is given  This is a family who breeds and trains dogs.  You are then introduced to Edgar.  Edgar was born unable to speak.  But Edgar has a special gift about him and a special relationship to the dogs.   The story explains the youth of Edgar and the changes in his family.  I will not give the entire story away because I am sure some people have not yet read the book and don’t want to ruin it for anyone.

The book is very long and very good.  But the ending was horrible.  It just left you there.  Not knowing what happens next.  Will there be another book?  Will there be a movie? (I hope so!)  So be warned, if you do not like that type of book ending, it will leave you feeling disappointed.

So my 10 year old daughter has caught the online video bug and has started filming quick shows with her best friend Jordan.  We have set her up a video blog on WordPress and they plan on updating them weekly.  It is scary how naturally this comes for my daughter.  She should definately go into acting!

Anyway, the site is www.thelolgirls.wordpress.com for those who might be interested.  She believes she is going to get famous doing this, like iCarly, who is, of course, a fictional character.
